Thirteen lights. Zero screens.

Hand a toddler a phone and they go still. Hand them the Owly Board and they go to work. Press a button, flip a switch, twist the knob, turn the key, plug in the AUX. Every single touch lights the owl up, so they keep chasing the next one. That is cause and effect, and it is the whole reason they cannot put it down.

Colour: Blue Owly

Two owls. Same 13 lights.

The screen problem

A screen answers back. So does Owly.

The reason a phone hypnotises a toddler is simple. They touch it, and something happens instantly. Most wooden toys just sit there and lose that contest every time.

Owly gives them the same instant answer, without the screen. Press, and a light comes on. Flip, and it changes. Twist the knob, turn the key, plug the AUX in. Their hands stay busy, their eyes stay off a display, and nobody has to negotiate to get the phone back.

👆

Instant response

Every control does something the moment they touch it. That is the hook a screen uses, borrowed for good.

🤫

Quiet by design

Owly lights up, it does not shout. No jingles on loop, no volume war. You can sit in the same room and hear yourself think.

🧠

Real hand work

Pressing, flipping, twisting and unlocking build the finger strength and coordination that swiping never will.

What is on the board

Six kinds of busy, on one little owl.

Each control works differently, so a toddler has to figure each one out on its own terms. That is what keeps a board alive past week one.

  • 💡 13 LED light caps. Coloured buttons that glow the second they go down.
  • 🔘 Push buttons. Round caps plus a star and a hexagon, each one a different shape to find.
  • 🎚️ Rocker switches. A big round one and a flat one. Flipping a switch is a whole different motion to pressing.
  • 🎛️ A turning knob. The one control that needs a pinch and a twist, not a poke.
  • 🔑 Key lock, with 2 keys. Lining a key up with a slot is proper fine-motor work, and toddlers love having the key.
  • 🔌 AUX plug activity. A real plug and a real socket, so they get to do the grown-up thing of plugging something in.
Owly board features: rocker switches, key switch, AUX plug, push buttons, AAA batteries and LED lights

Pick your owl

Blue is wide awake. Pink is sleepy.

They are not the same board in two colours. Each owl has its own face and its own mix of shapes and switches. Same 13 lights, same size, same ₹999.

Owly board dimensions: 16.5 cm tall, 15 cm wide, 5 cm deep

Built for little hands

Small enough for the diaper bag. Sturdy enough for a toddler.

At 16.5 by 15 centimetres it sits in two small hands and slides into any bag. It runs on 2 AAA batteries, which are in the box, so there is no cable to find and nothing to charge before they can play. Restaurants, flights, the back seat, the waiting room. It just works.

Questions

The things parents ask us

Does it make sound?+

No, and for a lot of parents that is the best part. Owly answers with light instead of noise, so there is no jingle on repeat and no volume war at bedtime. Your toddler still gets an instant response to every touch, you just get to keep the quiet.

Is this suitable for a 1-year-old?+

Yes. It is designed for ages 1 to 4, with large controls that suit a beginner. The keys are small, so keep an eye on them with the youngest ones, as you would with any toy that has small parts.

Does it need charging?+

No. Owly runs on 2 AAA batteries and both are included, so it works straight out of the box. No cable, nothing to plug in overnight, and when the batteries run down you swap them in a minute.

What does it actually teach?+

Cause and effect first, which is the big one at this age. Underneath that it is building fine motor skills and finger strength, hand-eye coordination, and the habit of exploring something on their own without an adult driving it.

Is it safe for toddlers?+

It is built from wood with rounded edges and no sharp corners. As with any toy at this age, play should be supervised, and that goes double for the keys.

Blue or pink, is there any difference?+

Only in looks. Blue Owly has wide open eyes, a purple bow tie, a red star and a green hexagon. Pink Owly has sleepy lashes, a hair bow, a blue star and a red hexagon. Both have all 13 lights, both are the same size, and both cost ₹999.

Can I take it travelling?+

That is where it earns its keep. At 16.5 by 15 centimetres it drops into a backpack or diaper bag, it runs on batteries so there is no charger to pack, and because it is silent you can hand it over on a flight without turning around to apologise.
